 THE PSYCHOLOGY BEHIND:MICRO-TRENDS AND FOMO

“Why do micro trend fade so fast”

Have you people ever wondered why we follow a trend just because everyone else is following it? 

We the common people are the consumers, everyone of us are engaged in our mobile phones. Instagram,pinterest,twitter,snapchat…..to be precise all the social media platforms.

We tend to think we are missing out on the trends–this is a common phenomenon in social psychology called FOMO(fear of missing out)



Let’s see the connection between consumers and how social media influences us. The influencers on social media platforms promote many things like the clothing fashion, 7 steps skincare routine— have we as an individual taken a pause and tried to figure out why we blindly follow these micro-trends.

We tend to follow these so-called micro trends to fit into society.

Social acceptance, conformity ideologies developed by Solomon Asch (1951) is best known for his Asch Conformity Experiments, where he demonstrated how people often conform to group opinions—even when they know the group is wrong.

On a final note, 

I would like to conclude that FOMO-; is a real phenomenon which everyone of us would have experienced.

Trends and micro trends vanish as the hike goes away  but losing your original identity and becoming a trapped prey to these social media algorithms is when to stop impulsive shopping.
